Development and Fundraising Intern / Centennial Park Conservancy (Late Summer / Fall, 2024)

This is a proactive internship where you will engage in the development/fundraising priorities of the organization. You will attend high-level meetings with organizational staff and sponsors. You will walk away from this internship with writing and project samples you can use for your future.

The ideal candidate is familiar with and interested in fundraising and donor/sponsor cultivation and stewardship. The candidate must be interested in working with a team to develop and support the mission of Centennial Park Conservancy and its Development Department. Our office is fast-paced and a can-do attitude is essential. The internship is a great opportunity to gain real-world professional experience with hands-on fundraising for a known and respected nonprofit.

Learning objectives:

Learn about both the science and art of fundraising, relationship building, and nonprofit volunteer management
Acquire invaluable experience in working with fundraising software (Salesforce, Classy)
Gain direct experience with event management for a variety of constituencies
Direct experience cultivating and stewarding community fundraisers
Develop excellent internal and external communication skills to be able to work with all different personas

Duties and Responsibilities: The CPC Fundraising Intern will:

Maintain and update contacts in the organization’s Salesforce CRM;
Support managing events in Classy.org and Classy Live;
Responsible for working with the Development Manager to draft and send out donation acknowledgements;
Responsible for supporting team with other donor engagement mailings and gift deliveries;
Researching opportunities and supporting the development of proposals for grants (foundation or corporate) and individual giving;
Contribute both individually and as a team member in meetings and brainstorming sessions.
We have a few key events in the fall. Event-related activities may include:

Support the following event-related activities: research, plan, coordinate several aspects of these events - ticketing, communication with vendors, communication with sponsors, communication with donors, logistics, managing event book

Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills.
Close attention to detail and quality of large datasets.
The ability to come across as warm and sincere online and to embody CPC’s brand in all forms of communication.
Comfortable in reaching out to organizations and donors, via email, phone, and in-person.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 40 pounds
Preferred skills but not required: Proficiency with Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Canva, Paperless Post, Excel, Classy, and Salesforce

Time Commitment: It is our hope that our interns experience as much of CPC as they can, and truly become a part of our team. Therefore, we have created a program centered on a flexible range of 8-12 hours per week for 14 weeks.

Compensation: $12/hr; the internship provides the opportunity to hone management and supervisory skills while making a tangible contribution by supporting the work of the Conservancy.

Work Environment: The intern will work in a small collaborative office environment; work from home is available depending on the assignment / task.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Parthenon and Centennial Park have been essential parts of Nashville’s fabric for more than a century. As the nonprofit support organization for these treasured spaces, Centennial Park Conservancy is committed to sustaining the vibrancy of Nashville’s Centennial Park, home to the historic Parthenon, by supporting Metro Parks in revitalizing and activating this public green space to ensure the park remains a welcoming destination for recreation, culture, education, and community connection for all. The organization is responsible for a variety of initiatives focused on caring for the Park and maintaining its vibrancy. Focus areas include:

Public Green Space: We collaborate with Metro Parks on a multi-decade revitalization effort as well as ongoing maintenance and preservation needs in Centennial Park, thereby improving the community green space for present and future generations.
Cultural Arts: We fund compelling art exhibitions, lectures, and performances in the Parthenon museum for over 300K visitors each year, and present free live music concerts at Musicians Corner for 100K people annually.
Education: We support families by presenting 100 free educational children’s events through Kidsville in Centennial Park and elsewhere, and underwriting Parthenon educational activities such as STEAM tours for 360 schools and more.
Environment: We inspire positive environmental change at Nashville Earth Day, the city’s official Earth Day celebration, and fund many local sustainability projects across the city.

Pay: $12.00 per hour
