April 9, 2021 Your MEMBER ONLY email on all things the Chamber worked on this week and what you need to know to get the most out of your membership. Thank you for being a member. During this time of national crisis, when information and connections are so important, the Weekly Wrap-Up will be made available to members and non-members. We are here for you and in this together. |
You should have received the Advocacy Update on Friday. The Weekly is coming out on Saturday as there is not enough time in the day/week to keep up with the work at the moment. If you have an outstanding email from me I apologize and promise I will get to it. I am ready for the legislative session to end so there is more time to focus on other work we do to EDUCATE and CONNECT, but ADVOCATE is what is needed now and so important in stopping discrimination against LGBT people in Tennessee. Business opposition to discrimination is key in stopping these bills. We will be making that point and making it clear again on Monday morning. I hope you will join us at 10am to announce the new signers of our open letter of Businesses Against Discrimination, update everyone where bills stand, and hear directly from businesses on why discrimination is bad for Tennessee.

Things are starting to get back to normal as more and more people get vaccinated! We are continuing to work on events where we will be able to see members in person, and there are events that are starting to happen. I attended a hard hat tour of the restaurant going in on top of Fifth and Broad on Tuesday. It was a great way to end a day of advocacy at the capitol, but the feeling of doing things that we used to do and being around people in person and making connections, that feeling was the best. I am fortunate to be fully vaccinated and the event was very safe. I can’t express how amazing the new restaurant Sixty Vines is going to be, or how awesome the entire Fifth and Broad complex is. We can’t wait to welcome businesses there to the Chamber and begin to have events there. |
Speaking of events! Who is ready for some hockey and some pride! Predators Pride Night is Tuesday and I hope you have your tickets and we will see you in the arena. We really enjoyed talking online with Sean Henry and the Preds team about the event. We also have the Pride in Business Awards approaching! Have you nominated someone yet? We are securing sponsors and looking forward to announcing those soon. This is our major fundraiser for the year and I hope you will support and join us.
I want to close by saying thank you. Thank you for being a member and creating what the Nashville LGBT Chamber is. The last few weeks our work and our influence in the city have been evident and it is needed in so many ways. Even though we are overwhelmed with work we are grateful and fortunate to be doing this work. We may be a bit slow to respond at the moment, but we are here to help you in any way we can.
