CEO Brief - Today is the 4th anniversary of the PULSE nightclub massacre. I know many will ever forget where we were when we woke up to hear about 49 of our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters being slain because of hatred. Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones during that tragic day and the 53 people who were wounded. There is a new campaign where you can Honor them with action .
It was a galvanizing moment for many, and it reaffirmed our commitment to the fight for justice and against hate. That Pride celebration was very different that year, we grieved while we celebrated. |
|
We find ourselves in another Pride month where things are not normal, where we are grieving and celebrating in a different way. We are physically apart from one another, locked in our homes, fighting a deadly virus, a virus that has a bigger impact on all marginalized communities. If that and the many things that come from the shutdown were not hard enough, we are also grappling with another virus, a virus that we have let rage for far too long. That virus is racism and systematic injustice that Black people face.
We continued to have the conversation that virus this week while we also talked about the Pride and the events that are happening with it.

Some anti-LGBT bills moved in the House again this week. No bills moved in the Senate. We still think the Senate will stay focused on the budget and COVID-19 response only. We hope to see the budget come next way and adjournment shortly after. We will breath easy when they gavel this session closed. We will keep you updated. |
