Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hope yours is off to a good start or you had a good one if you are reading this on Tuesday.
I was wrapping up serving on the logistics committee for Leadership Nashville on Friday and was not able to get to this email until Saturday. What a wonderful program and congrats to our former President Ron Snitker for completing it, and now serving on the logistics team for next year. If you are interested in being in Leadership Nashville or any other leadership or professional growth program, I would love to talk with you and help you get in, and the Chamber can help you pay for the cost of these programs with scholarships. They are amazing programs that help you grow and learn about yourself and the community.
I hope you saw the email that Lauren sent out about the Pride in Business Awards coming up this Friday! We are really looking forward to honoring the finalists and our members and community. We need your support and we want you to join us to celebrate and honor them. Please buy tickets to join us on Friday.
PRIDE month starts on Tuesday! We have a ton of programming coming your way so look for a BIG announcement email that will have everything and you can see the things we have already announced in the email below.
I celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary on Friday with my husband, it was also our 20th anniversary of being together. I wanted to take a moment in this email to tell him thanks for the incredible support he gives me and in turn the Chamber. I love you Jim. |

The fallout from the 5 anti-LGBT discriminatory laws that passed in TN is continuing. More and more people, organizations, and groups are learning of the legislation and voicing their outrage. The "bathroom signage law" continues to receive the most attention. It was revealed this week that the House sponsor, Rep. Rudd, lied to colleagues everyone else when he said there were no penalties in his bill. We warned of this issue and called him out when he stood on the House floor and said businesses were good with this bill.
We are still looking for plaintiffs for lawsuits to challenge the anti-trans bathroom signage bill that passed. We are working with the ACLU on this. Please contact me if you have inclusive bathroom policies and multi-stall restrooms in your business. |
The Nashville LGBT Chamber joins a coalition of Nashville businesses, organizations, educators, faith leaders and others who have launched an effort called Save Nashville Now, which aims to stop what they call a “dangerous” charter referendum. Read the Press Release here. |

Please take part in the Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) 15th Annual LGBTQ Community Survey! For over a decade, this survey has provided free data to help non-profits, universities, and organizations better understand and serve the LGBTQ community. The report will be published for free download on approximately August 15. Previous surveys have had over 45,000 participants from 150 countries! The survey should take about 12 to 15 minutes to complete.
