Christopher A. Brum-Taylor, Senior Partner & Financial Planner
Chris is a native Tennessean and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee before beginning his professional career with SolomonWood. As a partner and financial planner at SolomonWood, he brings over a decade of leadership and real-world finance experience to his relationships with clients and in leading his talented, client-service oriented team.
Chris has completed his certification as a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and holds the Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA™) designation where he studied the psychological aspects of investing and making sound financial decisions. He believes good advisors are teachers; and partners with SolomonWood clients and their families to accomplish their individual goals—whatever they might be. In this role, he has become a specialist in empowering individuals to take charge of their own financial futures using comprehensive financial planning as their guide. Chris enjoys working with entrepreneurs and professionals who have a passion for creating or furthering their financial legacy through charitable giving and strong financial stewardship.
Chris is a proud UT Graduate (GO VOLS!) and has served on the Board for the UT Alumni Association for 10 years and sat on the Alumni Board Advisory Council for the entire UT System during much of that time. He was also one of the co-founders and executive board members for Outlook, a regional 501(c)(6) organization representing 100+ businesses who share a vision for a diverse and inclusive business community. “If you exclude any one segment of the population from business opportunity, you miss out on talented people who can contribute so much to the local economy,” Chris said. “Everyone deserves an opportunity for a ‘seat at the table’.” Relatedly, Chris is passionate about diversity—especially as it relates to personal financial leadership. He regularly volunteers his time speaking to and educating members of minority communities on this topic.
Outside of work and volunteerism, you’ll find Chris spending time with his husband, Matt, and their daughter, Charlotte. They enjoy travel (especially if it involves a beach), good food (and wine), and quality time with friends and extended family.
