News Release: Moving Back to Modified Phase 2
From the Mayor: “Four of our six health metrics for Reopening Nashville are green. Our transmission rate is yellow, between 1.03 to 1.16, but our 14-day rolling daily case average is red. Today’s new confirmed case count is 608, a record daily high for Davidson County. This means we have to respond as a community to get us back on track”.
Earlier this week we had heard of several businesses in many areas of service, having positive employees or customers in their establishments that had to close to thoroughly clean. We also were watching the numbers like all of you were afraid this would happen. We are also hearing from many that they can not stay open at any type of limited capacity and make it. Going back on reopening may be too much for them to survive.
Today's developments are not what anyone wanted, they show that we must double our efforts and all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands frequently. Wear a mask. Stay 6 feet away from others. Stay home whenever possible. Follow all the other rules that are out there. We are all in this together and this affects everyone.

“After putting together a small July 4 celebration that prioritized the health and safety of our city, we have decided to cancel the short fireworks show we had planned for downtown to broadcast on NewsChannel 5. While we are disappointed, the significant increase in COVID cases this week made it clear that we needed to take any steps possible to discourage crowds from gathering. As you know, we had already taken measures to minimize crowds by canceling our July 4 concert and only planning a fireworks show of a few minutes long that we would air on TV.
We hope everyone will have a safe July 4 and watch the one-hour TV special on NewsChannel5 at 9pm on Saturday. We plan to compile the best-of-the-best from previous year’s fireworks shows to include in the broadcast, along with live performances from John Hiatt, Lilly Hiatt, Keb’Mo’, and Tenille Townes.”
