The CARES act provides for up to 39-weeks of benefits for individuals who do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance. While details around this program have been scant, this week the federal government released guidelines for distributing these funds to the self-employed and those working in the so-called gig economy.

Tennessee's Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development, Jeff McCord, has confirmed that the state will begin making unemployment payments to independent contractors, gig workers, and the self-employed. The department will also conduct a review of previously filed applications.

So what does all this mean for you? Join us on Wednesday, April 15th to find out.

Note that because the rules are evolving daily, we are still in the process of securing the most appropriate speaker.
